Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR uses controlled eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to reduce or eliminate emotional and mental distress that result from traumatic life experiences. It is believed that EMDR alters dysfunctional memory networks in the brain which are formed as a result of trauma. EMDR has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions including trauma, anxiety, phobias and depression.
